As so much of what we do eventually becomes invisible in our client’s homes and yachts, it’s often hard to articulate the work that happens behind the scenes and where that starts.

Our Managed Lighting Supply service is a classic example of this. On the surface, a fitting arrives on site ready to be installed. Behind the scenes, a lot happens to ensure that fitting arrives on site on time, fully tested and ready for installation.

Once the creative lighting design begins, the clock starts ticking on placing lighting orders earlier than project teams often appreciate. Our Managed Lighting Supply team get involved as early as possible, identifying what information is required, to complete drawings and specifications. Order timelines are identified for each product type and a detailed schedule of deadlines is provided to the design and contracts team.

We bring fittings and drivers into stock in plenty of time to test and prepare ready for easy installation. Every fitting and component gets a unique code, which means we can track it from the point it arrives with us and for the rest of its life; enabling us to easily identify any replacements in the future.

We order extra of any fitting types that are used in quantity and might require late additions. This means small, late changes can be provided without extended delivery times.

FF&E fixtures, like wall lights, that need conversion to work on the control system are brought into our workshops for modification. Custom linear fittings are measured by our team who build to order and ship out pre-built and tested fittings. Downlights are connected to their drivers, and then to mains voltage and control connectors, offering ‘plug-and-play’ installation on site.

Electrical teams can call off a single floor or group of rooms so only those fittings ready to be installed are supplied, boxed up, labelled and ready to plug straight into the building loom.

Informing budgets from the outset is key. We provide an early indication of pricing as soon as we can, followed by formal budgets and quotations. This enables the project manager or electrical contractor to get competitive pricing through normal distributor channels and compare these costs with the Ideaworks Managed Supply offering.

Our Managed Lighting Supply service saves time, reduces risk and delay and simplifies delivery of the project.
