Our latest collaboration features Wonderglass in the window display of our London Experience Centre, a showcase of their masterful approach to luxury lighting.

Honouring Tradition, Redefining Glass for the Future

Wonderglass is a family-run company at the forefront of artisanal glassmaking. Its designs boldly look to the future while simultaneously honouring the rich traditions and techniques of Venetian glass. Founded by Maurizio and Christian Mussati, Wonderglass fuses centuries-old glassmaking techniques with contemporary aesthetics. Its works are not just visually stunning but also serve as an exploration of how glass can shape a space’s sensory experience.

The centrepiece of the Wonderglass display at our London Experience Centre, MOMENTO, designed by Nao Tamura. It captures the instant when a clinging bead of water transforms into a droplet. This design amplifies the quiet, often unnoticed moments of beauty surrounding us.

Another standout piece is LUMA by Zaha Hadid, a sculptural, flared tube of hand-blown Murano glass. Its flowing shape reflects Hadid’s signature fluid geometry, demonstrating the harmonious relationship between material and form.

Illuminating the Music Pavilion: A Symphony of Glass and Light

Wonderglass played a crucial role in our recently completed project at the Music Pavilion. Specifically, their array of 32 exquisite glass pendants hangs delicately, almost magically, within the strong geometry of the space. As a result, these pendants create a mesmerizing interplay of light that refracts off the concrete floors, evoking ripples on a serene pond. Ultimately, this seamless integration of design, light, and materiality is at the heart of what makes Wonderglass exceptional.

A Celebration of Craftsmanship and Innovation with Moritz Waldemeyer

To celebrate this partnership, we recently co-hosted an exclusive event at our London Experience Centre, featuring the renowned designer Moritz Waldemeyer of Studio Waldemeyer. A British/German designer and engineer, Moritz has collaborated with some of the world’s leading architects and fashion designers. His innovative work seamlessly blends technology with artistry. It creates bespoke lighting and interactive installations that transcend functionality to become immersive experiences.

During the event, both Moritz Waldemeyer and Christian Mussati shared their insights into how technology can evoke deep emotional connections in design. Their discussion gave guests a deeper appreciation for the role of bespoke lighting design in shaping atmospheres filled with meaning and permanence. This collaboration is a testament to the synergy between craftsmanship, technology, and storytelling. These are core values that both Ideaworks and Wonderglass uphold.
