Ideaworks Advances Environmental and Community Impact in 2024
Ideaworks has made significant strides over the past year in both environmental sustainability and supporting the local community. We are delighted that this has been recognised through an improved PRIME score of 19.
PRIME is a social enterprise which helps companies improve their environmental and social impact. As a founding member of the PRIME Principles, we look to embed environmental responsibility into our operations.
In our environmental efforts, we have implemented a zero-to-landfill policy in the UK, directing non-recyclable waste towards energy production and have consistently reduced waste per turnover. Additionally, we have switched to eco-friendly, refillable cleaning supplies, cutting down plastic use, whilst improvements in our supply chain have included a 60% yearly reduction in plastic bubble wrap. We have also made headway in sustainable energy by powering all Faversham sites with 100% renewable energy.
To further minimise our carbon footprint, we have bolstered local hiring across our EU projects to reduce airmiles. In terms of fleet management, we offer an electric car scheme to employees and have installed charging points powered by renewable energy, allowing staff to offset 126,921 miles worth of carbon emissions so far.
In order to support the community, we raised over £15,000 for charities, including Together for Cinema, which installs cinemas in locations that serve children and young adults. Additionally, the directors raised over £12,000 by completing the Three Peaks Challenge in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
Through our training academy, we support local schools and provide work experience placements, fostering a pipeline of future industry talent. These initiatives reflect our commitment to both environmental improvement and supporting the local community.
