The Music Pavilion Revealed: A Collaborative Journey
Luxury Residential Lighting and Shading
An exceptional addition to a private estate in Surrey, the newly completed Music Pavilion seamlessly integrates luxury residential lighting, bespoke shading solutions, architectural solutions, shading systems, and technological precision. We’re thrilled to offer a closer look at this unique space, crafted in collaboration with SHH Architecture & Interiors and Ideaworks.

A Vision Rooted in Connection
The Music Pavilion was envisioned not as an isolated retreat but as an extension of the client’s main house. The journey began with an extraordinary vision from the client, an art collector and dedicated audiophile. Connected by landscaped pathways, the pavilion balances innovation with tradition, creating a cohesive living experience across the estate.
Pawel Nawojczyk, Director of Architecture at SHH Architecture & Interiors, shares:
“The connection between the pavilion and the main house was vital. This project wasn’t just about building a beautiful structure – it was about creating a seamless experience where design and technology enhance everyday life. This pavilion began as a bold idea but has evolved into a space offering much more. It’s a testament to the transformative power of design when guided by purpose.”

Lighting that Transforms
Lighting played a central role in shaping the pavilion’s identity. From striking external features like Japanese charred timber to carefully illuminated interiors, the lighting design highlights every detail while adapting to the client’s lifestyle.
Oliver Williamson, Senior Lighting Designer at Ideaworks, explains:
“We designed the lighting to complement the natural surroundings while providing precise control. Dynamic lighting scenes adjust the ambience throughout the day, shifting from energising brightness for work to softer tones for relaxation and evening performances.”
The bespoke lighting includes fixtures from Wonderglass, which create rippling effects reminiscent of sound waves, and carefully integrated joinery lighting that showcases the client’s artefact collection.

Residential Shading for Seamless Integration
Every aspect of the pavilion has been meticulously considered, from intricate joinery, advanced integration and controls, sophisticated lighting, climate control including electric shading, and energy-efficient heating to integrated fire safety and security systems. Window shading, though not initially requested by the client, became a functional necessity due to the substantial glazing. The bespoke approach to window dressing ensures integration, aesthetic coherence, and maintainability, addressing the risk of glare and solar gain.
A Collaboration to Remember
The Music Pavilion results from years of partnership and mutual trust between SHH Architecture & Interiors and Ideaworks. We are immensely proud to have been part of this project, a space that truly embodies the artistry, innovation, and precision that define our work.
From concept to completion, the level of collaboration and craftsmanship has been outstanding.
“Over two decades of collaboration with SHH have allowed us to deliver some of London’s most remarkable properties. This project has been particularly special, with a highly engaged client who allowed us to be playful and creative. A mutual attention to detail perfectly aligned Ideaworks approach with SHH’s architectural and interior expertise. Together, we seamlessly integrated lighting, audio-visual, IT, and shading services to bring this vision to life.” says Stewart Keir, Associate Director at Ideaworks.
