When Acoustic Performance Becomes Part of the Design
Great sound isn’t only about what you hear. It’s also about the environment in which you hear it.
Whether we’re designing a dedicated cinema, an entertainment space, or an integrated audio system throughout a home or yacht, the room's acoustic characteristics play an important role in the final result.
Hard surfaces, large expanses of glass, and increasingly open interiors can all influence how sound behaves, which is why you need to consider acoustics alongside the technology itself.
But acoustic performance doesn’t have to come at the expense of the interior.
Performance You Can See
ALMA Acoustics brings together acoustic performance, materiality and craftsmanship through a collection of luxury leather acoustic panels engineered for walls, ceilings and joinery.
Each panel combines a high-performance PET felt acoustic substrate, manufactured from GRS-certified fibres containing 99% recycled content, with premium perforated leather.
The result is a functional acoustic treatment that can become an intentional part of the interior rather than something to conceal.
The collection includes six panel designs, three acoustically tested perforation patterns and a palette of 98 Firenze leather colours. Panel sizes and shapes can also be fully customised around the requirements of an individual project.
Made for the Space
Manufactured in-house by ALMA in London, the panels can be developed in collaboration with designers and architects to create bespoke compositions for residential, hospitality, commercial, marine and aviation environments.
That flexibility is particularly valuable when acoustics form part of a wider interior and technology strategy. Rather than treating acoustic performance as an isolated technical requirement, we can consider materials, finishes, placement, and audio design together.
It’s an approach that reflects how we think about sound at Ideaworks: the best-performing spaces are created when the technology and the environment around it are designed as one.
The product specifics above align with ALMA’s current collection of six acoustic panel forms, which it describes as engineered for walls, ceilings and joinery.
