Ideaworks’ very own Senior Lighting Designer Arianna Ghezzi will be awarded in the lighting industry’s annual 40under40 programme. She has been selected from over 250 applicants across the world in recognition of her achievements in the field of architectural lighting design.
The 40under40 was founded in 2016 to celebrate 40 years of the Lighting Design Awards and honour emerging talent within the lighting industry. Arianna is a Senior Lighting Designer for Ideaworks and mainly works on high-end residential and marine projects. She was nominated for the award by a lighting manufacturer and a design consultancy studio who have been impressed with her work.
“I originally studied Architecture,” says Arianna “However, it was lighting design that really interested me. I saw that light could be a gift to architecture; it completed it. This made me want to learn more about it”. She proceeded to study lighting design and later moved from her home town in North West Italy to the UK to progress in her career.
“I love what I do at Ideaworks,” Arianna explains “My role is really diverse. For example, the lighting design for a private island was like lots of different projects in one location; sports courts, residential properties, a church, a shooting range, a marina, even a farm!”
Arianna is also a bit too passionate about one of the products Ideaworks distribute. “Don’t even get me started on oneA’s Storm System,” she says, “I could talk about it for days, it’s so beautiful, the design, the quality…I’ll stop now” she laughs.
Arianna will be presented with her trophy by world-renowned architect, artist, professor and set designer Daniel Libeskind. “I studied Libeskind at University” she says, “I have to pinch myself when I think he will be personally giving me an award, he’s pretty much my idol”. However, she is keen to add “I will be collecting it on behalf of lots of people, though. Although it is great to get acknowledged, everything I have achieved has been a joint effort with my colleagues. They will be there with me at the Lighting Design Awards and we will celebrate the award together, we are a very close team”.
