Wednesday marked the first day of term for eleven students drawn from two local schools – The Abbey School and the Queen Elizabeth School, Faversham. The eleven students have been selected to attend the new Ideaworks Training Academy which will run alongside the school year and aims to introduce bright young students to the integration industry. It will give them the opportunity to develop a foundation of skills, should they choose to pursue what must be one of the most exciting career paths.
The scheme has been set up by Chris Jones, Ideaworks Operations Director in conjunction with the schools after many months of planning. Chris took the first class and introduced the students to the industry, Ideaworks’ place in starting that industry in the UK and the potential career opportunities. The opportunities certainly became more realistic to the students when success stories of current members of staff, such as Adam and Richard, are discussed. They both started with the company many years ago. Adam is now running the engineering on one of the world’s largest yachts and Richard is designing homes on a private island. The students are looking forward to their next class – an introduction to architectural layouts and audio design.
Ideaworks have a very long history of employing talented individuals, training them in the art of the industry and then giving them opportunities to progress. Most of the directors and shareholders of the business started out by making the tea and love nothing more than seeing genuinely passionate people join and excel. Employing over 140 staff and as one of the largest employers in Faversham, we look forward to seeing if any of this first crop of students have what it takes to work at the cutting edge of technology on some of the most exciting projects in the world. At the very least, we will ensure that the students have practical work experience that will help them on their chosen career.
